Un día en el Metro de Madrid

By | 20 December, 2011 | 0 comments

As a big city Madrid has a big network of public transport, but the Madrid network is not just big, it is actually quite efficient and clean. Most of the lines have been recently refurbished, and one of the newest lines, the one going to the airport features even LCD screens! Fantastic!

You can be sure to get almost anywhere you want in the city proper by underground. From the Hotel Puerta de Toledo you are very well set to get on the network, Puerta de Toledo is linked to the main line that runs between north and south, line 1, just a few stops away in Puerta del Sol.

Taking this line you can go as far north as the Paseo de la Castellana, to its very end, where you will see the amazing Kio towers, two massive Pisa-style towers leaning towards each other. Under these towers is a very important bus station for local buses that will take you to many of the little villages on the northern border of Madrid and the mountains.

If you take line one south, you will be able to enjoy the amazing panoramic views of the city from the vantage point of the park by Avenida de Buenos Aires. In Parque Azorín you will be able to enjoy some of the views, as it is quite quite in comparison to the rest of Madrid, but if you really want the photo experience, just climb the avenue leading to the fire and rescue centre, just to the other side of Avenida de la Albufera and you will find a long park that goes on for miles, the view from its hills is just amazing.

And all of this thanks to the Metro!
