El Corte Inglés and Disney

If there’s one shopping complex in Spain that stands as the flagship for the country, it’s El Corte Inglés.  Established in 1935 when its founder bought a small tailor’s shop in the heart of Madrid, its trajectory known to all and both its slogans and proximity have become part of the country’s heritage.

A visit to Cortylandia every Christmas is as common as a visit to any other show held around those dates, and slogans such as ‘It’s springtime at El Corte Inglés’, used by the brand since 1960, and ‘If you’re not satisfied, we’ll give you your money back’ now form part of Spanish culture.

Throughout its more than 50 years of history, and in an ever-changing society, El Corte Inglés has not only survived, it has reinvented itself, growing and evolving with its clientele, who are no longer the same, a task that has not always been easy and that, like life itself, has had its ups and downs.

But there it stands, ready to continue serving the general public. And with this in mind, visitors are welcome to enjoy the Walt Disney exhibition that opened on the 2nd of October and which has already had fans flocking to visit it.

In the Corte Inglés de la Castellana, one of its largest and most modern buildings, visitors can stroll through the 10 rooms that house an interactive exhibition occupying more than 700 m2 and dedicated to the manufacturer of dreams on its 100th anniversary.

Visitors can visit Andy’s room from Toy Story and meet his best friends and fellow adventurers, see a replica of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, or test their superpowers with Marvel and many other characters from the Pixar and Disney factories … because 100 years is a long time.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge until the 22nd of October.
